Founded in 2005, The Stogies were the first expansion team of the Bay Area Vintage Base Ball League. After struggling for the first couple seasons with the new rules and equipment, as well as the revolving door of players which cause forfeits and lopsided defeats. The Stogies were able to gain some outstanding new players who were committed to the vision of becoming the best team possible. In 2007 and 2008 they came together and won league, and in 2008 continued on to the World Series in Westfield, Mass. In 2009, The Stogies left the BAVBB and created the California Vintage Base Ball Federation. The CVBBF is a collaboration of vintage ball clubs in California who play the way base ball was meant to be played, hard-nosed and clean. It is with the passion and spirit of the wild west that these ballist take the field, we play a style of ball that gives you cranks (fans) a nostalgic feel with the grit and excitement of a modern game.
